Annual Painting Contest With Winning Portrait Added Ingame

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this has been thought of and shared already, but what if Mojang held an annual painting contest, and everyone could participate and add their own paintings, and the winner of the contest could get their portrait added to the game. The following rules would apply:

  1. It has to follow the 8-bit style of all Minecraft paintings, with the dimensions specified by Mojang

  2. There would be a Minecraft related theme for each year's contest

  3. The top 20 or so paintings would be selected by the community, and then the winner would be chosen by the Mojang team, and the winner could maybe get the portrait framed in real life or a cool ingame cape.

I feel like many of the current painting designs have been around for so long, and adding a new painting once a year would be a great way to keep the designs relevant. In addition, I feel like letting the Minecraft community design the paintings would provide many different possibilities for paintings that are creative or funny to come to fruition.

    I would like to extend this idea to music discs as well. Why limit artistic capability to just the realm of the optical? Aural art contests should happen too.
