I think teleporting snails would be an exciting addition to Minecraft that would encourage new strategies of game play and interactions with mobs. I see the snails as being one block long and comprising a head and shell. If killed they would drop their shell, which could be used as a helmet, and they would leave a trail of slime that could be collected as slime balls. Their main function, however, would be somewhat similar to the igloos. Players would be able to track snails by their trails of slime, then, when they find them, they could click on the snails (as they would to build something) to enter the snails' shells. Inside the snails' shells, there would be a 4x4 block space with a bed, a redstone torch, and a chest with minor treasures (such as coal, wheat, saplings, various seeds, bowls, etc.) When the player sleeps in the bed, the snail will teleport to a random location at least forty blocks away from its original position. When it teleports, it would not leave a slime trail, increasing the difficulty of tracking it down. Usually, snails would teleport to a different biome, but on rare occasions they could travel to the Nether or the End.
