Most players assume that there are only 9 levels in the game, and many rush through without realizing the significant benefits of exploration to find these levels, get more gear, and enjoy the game more (resulting in players ‘completing’ the game in 3-6 hours, when I’ve played for about 15-17 and still haven’t finished due to my thorough exploration).
Now, if it were 1, maybe 2 levels, this wouldn’t be a big deal, however there are a whopping 5! That’s more than a third of the levels in the base game, at least so far, meaning that players miss out on way too much.
My suggested solution is as follows: at the end of the base campaign, explicitly tell the player that these levels exist and can by found by exploring and replaying levels, but don’t tell them the specific locations and levels to keep them mysterious and still secret levels (the reason it’d be at the end of the base campaign is to add satisfaction and mystery for players who find them beforehand).
