A new snapshot gave us the ability to define custom dimensions in a .json file, which is great!
However, with this change, server owners and mapmakers would be given a lot more power over their maps if certain global commands (like /gamerule and /time) had the potential to be dimension-specific. That way, it would be really easy to have mob griefing or spawning turned off in some dimensions but not others. Additionally, I would love to be able to set it to nighttime in one custom dimension without having the sun cycle in all my others be affected.
Example: '/execute in <dimension> run gamerule mobGriefing false' will only set the gamerule in whatever dimension you specified. And by running '/execute in <dimension> run gamerule mobGriefing' you could therefore query whatever the value of the mobGriefing gamerule is in any given dimension.
