Playstation Plus should not be needed!

I believe it’s absolutely ridiculous for me to require playstation plus to play with friends. I spend how much money on a console and then actual games and then you ask me to pay to actually play? This is absolutely ridiculous i think you should sort this out. I don’t have enough money to be paying monthly to play. You should change this feature so the many people including CHILDREN can play their BOUGHT games on their BOUGHT consoles for FREE.

    No, the problem is that Sony doesn't host these servers in the slightest. Connecting to my LAN Bedrock game from a PS4 to a phone should be possible without PSN.

    Mojang Studios isn't the one who decided you need PlayStation Plus, it was Sony's decision to require PlayStation Plus for Online Multiplayer. Also, you can play Local Splitscreen and LAN Multiplayer for free.

    Exactly! I cannot afford paying for PS Plus. And that too monthly! We bought this game, we should have all features without paying extra! Also, if this is Playstations fault, WE SPENT 400-500$ ON YOUR CONSOLE WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED

    Sony needs to make multiplayer free at least LAN Multiplayer with crossplay .why tf do you need to pay monthly in order to just play multiplayer .
    even minecraft multiplayer for mobile is free on smartphones and pc once you purchase the actual game .

    Couldn't agree more my friend. I feel like they should make PS Plus just like a PS dlc that gives you a bunch of games and makes other games on PS store cheaper

    I love Mojang as a whole, incredibly surprised that this game is still as innocent as ever.
    Highly doubt they can do anything though because Sony's bull is in the way
    Literally just bought Minecraft for my girl's phone, only to find out I need PS Plus smh.

    Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong but it wasn't always like this, right? 

    I distinctly remember being able to go a friend's server without a paywall. Now, we can't even join servers without PS Plus, I bet box's got the same issue.

    I absolutely agree. I have just set up a local network bedrock server at home and discover that for some reason, I need PS+ subscription to play on it from my PS5? For playing locally and offline, from the same room?? I have bought the game, and for local play, I absolutely should not need to be subscribed when i want to play offline! Sony is ridiculous. I understand that PS+ is required for an actual online play, that is Sony's model, but there definitely should be exception for local network connections, when for example, a group of friends want to have a LAN party.

    I host my own Server on my own LAN and do not need any help from Sony. So why should one pay for nothing? I'm not going to buy the game for any console until this is fixed.

     

    Anyway Fortnite is free to play so why should I pay for traffic that never leaves my LAN?

    Hey, I faced the same issue, kid asked to play Minecraft together, spent some time making local bedrock server on raspberry, I'm able to join LAN Server from my Android device, but PS is forcing me to buy Playstation Plus for offline game, it's ridiculous, I'm happy that I got this PS4 for free, before this issue I was thinking about purchasing PS5 and GTA6, but looks like I will wait for the PC version, won't give even a penny for PS products

    I totally agree. i was a ps3 dude who played Minecraft legacy edition and thankfully in ps3 online play was free. But I though this applies to newer consoles like ps4 and bought one but I was freaking disappointed to see that you have to pay at least 10 dollars to play online. This sucks
