The infamous "ding" sound effect is something that has been in the game files for a long time but has gone underutilized in Vanilla worlds, servers have it enabled when playing minigames using plugins and mods whenever you hit something with an arrow so why is it not enabled in Vanilla?
I suggest adding an option under "Accessibility Options" to enable or disable this "ding" sound effect whenever you hit something with ANY PROJECTILE. As a bonus, make the sound pitch scale proportionally to how much damage the projectile has dealt. Arrows will have their shots' pitch scaled in terms of high pitch on high damage and low pitch on low damage, while things like snowballs and eggs could have the standard sound without changing the pitch.
I mean, how else am I supposed to know I hit a skeleton from 60 blocks away when I have to quickly turn my attention to another enemy? I can't really see the skeleton take damage if I'm not looking at them, right? Right?
Plus I don't think blind people can see the red glow on an enemy...
