Player death sound

So for some reason, player death sound is created by randomly choosing from the existing sounds, fall big, fall small, and hit 1-3. I have no idea why this is, as it makes resources packs that want to customize the death sound impossible. 

Please make a default death sound which can be changed with resource packs.

    Maybe for a resourcepack but there should not be a sound. There was already a sound and it got removed. Also how would the game know how to decide if the player is a boy or girl or even neither therefore it is impossible.

    You can edit sounds.json to choose what pool of sounds it chooses from

    Oh that's why I couldn't find a player death sound in the Minecraft files…
