Every passive mob has something special about it. Cows give milk and drop leather, sheep give and drop wool, chickens drop feathers, and rabbits can drop their feet; but the pig seems unusually left out. While pigs can be saddled and mounted, so can horses and it is much easier to go places riding a horse than a pig. Something that would put pigs back in the spotlight are litters. In real life cows and sheep usually give birth to one calf or lamb at a time while pigs can give birth to 6-8 piglets at once. Now a pig giving birth to 8 baby pigs in Minecraft is a bit excessive but if pigs shot out 1-3 baby pigs when bread then it would make them useful to keep as a food source again rather then just cows and sheep.
