Basalt should be in the respawn anchor crafting recipe

Possibly on the edges replacing glowstone, leaving one glowstone in the center. Would give basalt functionality other than as a decorative block

    I agree, maybe in the upcoming snapshots it has to do with the Bastions they spoke about last minecon
