Bats and tropical fish are the only mobs to really play the ambient role in the Minecraft world. I would love to see more mobs added for this purpose in the future.
Mosquitoes would be classified as arthropods, and only be slightly smaller then bats. Bats would also be hostile to them, because mosquitoes would be the bats prey.
Mosquitoes would be found in jungles, swamps, and around lakes. They would produce an ambient buzzing sound to give their biomes a more wild feel. Occasionally, they will also land on players and larger mobs like cows and villagers to feed. They'll fly off the host if: the mosquito is full, the host jumps in water, or is on fire. A mosquito is unable to do damage on its own, but if you get unlucky, a mob or player with 10 or more mosquitoes on them will take damage. 15 or more will give you nausea. Giving creative players the ability to make mosquito based traps.
Thank you for taking time to hear my idea!
