Currently the update order is partly dependent on the location of your contraption in the world. This can lead to lots of frustrating and undefined behaviour where some circuits might work in one location (or rotation) but not another. A system where the behaviour is not affected by update order at all could make redstone a lot less confusing and less frustrating for new players.
An example of how this could be achieved is already in the game. The current behaviour of MC-88959: If two sticky pistons retract in the same tick they don't affect each other.
An example where update order still matters would be dropper lines. Currently if you power droppers in the right order you can transport items infinitely many blocks in a single tick. That is of course pretty neat, but it also leads to a lot of frustrating experiences for new players. Items moving through multiple droppers in a single tick is simply unintuitive.
Making more components behave in a similar way would certainly break a lot of the quirky behaviour used by players, but I belive the increased consistency will benefit the redstone community in the long run by making these mechanics more accessible to new players.
