Ordinarily, Spiders and other bugs have trouble or difficulty climbing vertical smooth surfaces. I feel this should be reflected in game. This would also simplify spider farms, because then spiders will no longer gunk up in places in the farms, so it will be better for servers to reduce lag for long-term AFK spider farms. This could be as simple as glass and glazed terracotta, maybe even ice.
