What:
Japanese/Giant Spider Crab (should be Giant Spider Crab due to lack of geopolitics in MC.)
A hostile mob which trawls the deep ocean floor. Looks like a very, very long-legged crab.
Why:
The ocean needs more hostile mob variants; Less fantastical and more grounded.
This is a real sea creature that exists and is actually somewhat aggressive. This mob would fill the gap between the Drowned and Guardian spawns, which would perhaps allow players to tone down the difficulty of operating in an ocean biome by having a low-level difficulty mob; Rather than a swarm of mid-level Drowned.
How:
These guys might be best suited to spawning in the deep ocean, perhaps near chests or other ocean goodies, to act as a low-level defense of the treasure rather than essentially zombies.
The crabs should do significantly more damage to unarmored or leather-armored players than those with plate-type armors; This would prevent low-level players from too easily farming the ocean floor without at least some kind of equipment.
The fundamental shape of the spider crab is already very similar to the existing spider, with just a bit of tweaking. The legs do not need to be perfect, they can scuttle around and look appreciably good just like the spider mob already does.
The speed of the mob should be slow while in the neutral state, and somewhat fast and can jump when it sees the player. This would allow it to be a decent challenge, while providing that escape by just swimming up for low-level players.
