This improvement is pretty technical and small and so it's adjustment--while useful--is not going to have a major affect on most players.
Hoppers, when having multiple inventories below it, will go through and search through each inventory for either an open slot, or a slot with the same item it is trying to push through. The main issue with this system is that it only does that for one item before forgetting the inventory and searching for it again. This process becomes increasingly slow as the amount of unique items and inventories are added. It would be much more efficient if the hopper were to continue to store items in that same inventory until it ran out of items to store or the inventory became full before moving onto another. And the same for pulling out of an inventory.
This is just something that I think has a lot of potential for several different aspects of the technical community. The infinite and compact storage systems are an example where this would fix would be beneficial.
