Pheasants

SPAWNING:

The pheasant could spawn In open and wooded biomes, it should be rarer than the chicken.

 

BEHAVIOR:

The pheasant is very timid and typically runs from most mobs but some can be bold and carefully approach the player,

The pheasant will breed naturally and can place a new block called 'Wild bird nest' which  it lays eggs in (similar to turtle breeding. To force breed two pheasants there must be a nest within a 10 block radius, pheasants can fly for a short period of time.

 

APPEARANCE:

Pheasants look like a real life pheasant and come in a variety of colors such as gold and mechanistic, baby pheasants are small and a yellow brown coulour.

Update, I have read comments and I think  a territory system could work, along with better arrows using pheasant feathers,. Chickens being scared of pheasants is a brilliant idea,, pheasants could be used as an alarm .

    Will this mob have a use to players? Two potential uses are as an alarm/distraction (if a pheasant creates noise when fleeing) or a source of larger tail feathers, which may have its own uses (weak, pre-end elytra material or camouflaging armor). Without a use, this mob could be subject to the same treatment as polar bears.

    Great idea. To make it more useful, rather than just a decorated chicken, perhaps it's feathers can be used to create stronger arrows, arrows that go further and inflict more damage. The pheasant could also act in a similar way to a bees nest, meaning a limited number of pheasants could naturally spawn alongside the nest, and would roam in a 30x30 block area that is their territory.

    As a fun goof, pheasants will always bolden around chickens and scare any chickens entering their territory. Not only would that be funny to watch, it could be use to herd chickens. By placing nest with pheasants around you could create areas that effectively block chickens from passing through.

    Mabye a Pheasant Nest in Woods and Plaines where you could find Pheasant eggs and with the nest you could put other eggs to give a better hatch rate. Also Pheasant meat would be great as Pheasants would be more rarer than the chicken mabye the Pheasant meat could fill up one more hunger bar than Chicken meat. Just a thought hope it can help!

    This is an excellent idea! Would be a most welcome addition to any woodland setting for sure.

    We could have feeder barrels to place out and feed to scatter around by hand to encourage more birds in.
