This is my idea for a Nether pet.
A fire spirt could spawn next to the Nether lava pools and would attack you with a fire breathing attack which would set you on fire.
You would tame them with blaze powder and they would attack with fire breath. They would get a strength in hot biomes and weakness in cold biomes also melting ice and snow.
