I actually really like Zombified Piglin because it feels more mysterious.
A Zombie Piglin feels like:
"It's not just a Piglin, it's a Zombie Piglin."
But a Zombified Piglin feels more like:
"It's not just a Piglin, it's a Piglin that has been Zombified by something or someone."
Also whenever someone hears [past tense verb] [thing] without knowing who or what [past tense verb] that [thing]
the person is most often immediately going to start asking like:
"Who or what zombified those Piglins?"But again with a Zombie Piglin, it's just a [thing]
WolveReigner781 Commander Twenty the purpose of changing the name to piglin was to make them seem less human. pigman implies relation to players and villagers, which would be a mistake.
I have to agree with this. If they're going to rename the Zombie Pigman to match with the Piglins, then the Zombie Piglin would be a better choice. Similar to calling zombified villagers "Zombie Villagers."
I'll begrudgingly accept the changed appearance of the mob in 20w09a, but changing the name from "Zombie" to "Zombified" doesn't make sense. Others have already pointed out that this is inconsistent with the naming conventions the game already uses for zombie villagers, and that "zombified" is a pretty clunky and unpleasant word to say. I also take issue with the implications of the name. The "-ified" suffix implies that someone went and zombified the piglins, when in all likelihood they probably spawned that way, as zombie pigmen always have.
I agree, primarily because every other zombie in the game, zombie horse, zombie villager, and the old zombie pigman all start with zombie. They should change all the names or keep the new one the same. Prefer the latter though because zombified doesn't really sound good.
Practically, I don't like the name "zombified"; it makes it more annoying to search for spawn eggs, /summon, etc, and is inconsistent with zombie villagers and horses. If the argument is that "zombie" is a verb then how come villagers aren't "zombified"? It's just a confusing name that would make more sense if everything was just "zombie".
Yes please! I would like the Zombiefied Piglins to be Zombie Piglins and the Hoglins to be Fungihogs or just something way more distinguishable. They both have lin in the name so i mess their names up most of the time. The Zoglins, i think, should be Just Zogs or Zombie Fungihogs. I like the Strider. The name is good, though it is the same name of another creature in Horizon Zero Dawn. So i wasn't too impressed with the name. I will probably just keep referring to Piglins as Pigmen just because the letter L seems to have constant battles with my mouth. Random: But if I could rename the Strider, i would call it a Vulcan or Cinder Skipper. For clarity, a vote on this comment will count towards:
Renaming Zombiefied Piglins to Zombie Piglin
Renaming Hoglins to Fungihogs
Renaming Zoglins to Zogs
Renaming Strider to Vulcan or Cinder Skipper. Thanks for reading and any votes!
I agree. Zombified Piglin feels like it was a Piglin but it has turned into a zombie, whereas Zombie Piglin is a Piglin that is a Zobmie, whether it spawned like that or not. Additionally, is it is Zombie Villager, Zombie Horse and Zombie Pigman, so why Zombified Piglin.
There have been three bugs opened for this, but they were closed as invalid:
Don't change any names I like these names zombie Piglin is just a zombie while zombified Piglin is a Piglin that was zombified they should change zombie villager to zombified villager too because the villagers turned to zombies they weren't always zombies.
