/reveal map command to reveal the map your holding

trying to explore maps in creative mode to build something and place it on a map takes a while. having a command with map in hand will change the map in your hand.
/reveal map will reveal the whole map chunk 
/update map will update the map chunk thats in your hand with the chunk your in

or if part of that map was in area A and you where in B reveal map could also be set to what the map area in A was as well

changing few things
/map fill (fills a map that your holding)
/map update (updates a map one your currently holding)
/give emptymap1 (level1 map)
/give emptymap2 (level2 map)
/give emptymap3 (level3 map)
/give emptymap4 (level4 map)

currently in creative mode there is no commands to give a player a leveled map, there should be a way  

although i guess update map can be same as fill, this can also give more command block options as well so if you need to give a player a level 1 or level 2 map and good for creators when you can just use a command

    It would make more sense for the entire map just to show up when you're in creative, a command seems too excessive

    I disagree. 

    There may be some instances where players don't wish to get a full map, and having the commands listed above would allow for more freedom of choice. 

    These commands are just a proof of concept and would more than likely be implemented in-game differently by the developers.

    I agree it will be a huge help to player in creative world and also time saving for content creators.

    I would like this. But a built in minimap at least showing north or your home would be nice too. It's so easy to get lost...

    Can someone please type out exactly the command /map fill? Because just typing : "/map fill" doesn't work. There is obviously more but I don't know how to type it I right.

    to the guy who asked how to do it: this is a suggestion forum. you cant do this in minecraft, its a thing asking mojang to add it to minecraft
