Running a specific Minecraft version over your desktop

I would: As teh profile is, let it become a desktop profile launcher (as an icon that chooses from profile). it could be directly in: installation >to profile how to get those 3 dods there: send the profile to the desktop. Than how it is now: turn on the launcher > choose your version and then play.  It was the faster and more comfortable. I think it helped a lot of people.
