Cartography Table Feature: making maps smaller

In the cartography table- introduced in minecraft 1.14, players should be able to make a map smaller by adding shears (representing scissers). The shears will take one point of durability damage and the map will be changed from 128*128 ---> 64*64 You can do this two more times to create a 32*32 and finally a 16*16. This will make creating map posters and color sheets so much easier. If you are reading this mojang, please put this concept into consideration and add it into 1.13.1

    Adding a way to select which of the 4 possible smaller maps you get from this would be useful, even if it doesn't let you go below the current smallest map size! (There are so many times when I've accidentally zoomed a map out too far, and would have liked to be able to zoom it in again without crafting a new one and travelling again, when trying to make a medium-resolution tiled map wall)

    Shoot… this would be amazing for redstoners who animate maps too… right now, map displays, have to be huge!!!! Or you end up with large open spaces. Trimming a map to size, while keeping its ability to maintain it resolution (ie a trimmed 0/4 maps still render 1x1area, trimmed 1/4 maps render 2x2area, 2/4…4x4, 3/4…8x8, 4/4…16x16) This would be perfection for redstone, and would help reducing lag as each build could be specific for any expanded then trimmed map. This would be a game changer. Ex: a visually 16x16 pixel 4/4 map, would be the equivalent to a 16x16 chunk Area. Extreme, yes, but to a redstoner that a 16x16 block area to build a redstone contraption to control to color tint and hue, or each pixel for what that map will read… I could go on (actively working on a map displays and redstone computers so this is fresh in my mind.) but I hope this gets more up votes.

    This really should be a feature, The base map size currently is way to large.

    This would be awesome for map artist who don't want a 128x128 grid to cover.
