parrots shouldn't fall off of your shoulder when you jump or fall, it's pretty annoying and usually gets them hurt. instead, you should be able to shift right-click on a block to remove them from your shoulder and make them sit on that block. if you have two parrots on your shoulders then the one on the right shoulder would be put down first, then the left one.
