    I think when you tame animal (wolf, cat, parrot) you cannot hurt it by left-clicking. Instead, you trigger petting animation.

    I think it’d be cool if we could pet any passive/neutral animal, too, and similar mobs like striders. Maybe it could be another way to keep phantoms away for a bit as well, that way you don’t have to sleep through a night (assuming the phantoms are like a hallucination caused by stress but made physical, and petting animals relieving stress).

    I have an idea, shifting and right clicking will start an animation, you will look down at your dog, the dog will close it's eyes. It will stop after a few seconds. It's the same with your cat, but if you shift and left click you will scrach it's chin.

    What if we also add playing fetch? like if you throw a stick or something certain tamed animals (like a dog) would grab it and drop it back in front of you as long as they are standing.

    Ahhh I just got an idea for this! They should make it so you can pet tamed llamas in a similar fashion to Monster Hunter as a small reference! That would be so cute :)

    I think it'd work by shifting while right-clicking. And I'd love to see petting get added to the game and maybe you'd be able to get a little animation of your pet rolling around to if you pet them long enough

    There should be domesticated animals and wild animals. Domesticated animals will be fully controllable, and you can pet them whenever you want(wolves and cats). Wild animals you can't fully domesticate, but can achieve a strong bond with them while feeding and petting them. These animals will sometimes follow you, and sometimes protect you. They like to be independent.

    I think especially now that we got some new dog variants this should be considered again!
    I was never a dog person but I really like my new striped dog and I would love to be able to pet him! And other tamed animals too!!
    I could just be something simple like right clicking while crouching and the animal making some happy noises and some heart particles appearing, nothing fancy, but the option would be really really nice!!

    YES. Please let us pet our pets. They could do green sparks if they're a baby or hearts if they're an adult.

    Also, I know this isn't as related, but tamed wolves shouldn't be allowed to hurt your other tamed wolves- or other pets tamed by you in general. It's always super sad when you try to sit your wolf, it ends up getting hit, and then all your other wolves start killing it.
