I suppose I should clarify things I think could help this issue (One of my first posts so I forgot how this is supposed to work).
A few things that could be done, and these are just ideas, are

    1. Increase the amount of time you have before you have to sleep again to get rid of the phantoms (but this would only really help in realms).

    2. Reduce spawning of phantoms when in multiplayer servers to stop them from constantly respawning every night so you only have to kill them once per rest. This would be a better option for both servers and realms.

    3. Just get rid of them entirely in realms and servers or at the very least include an option to stop them specifically from spawning in servers and realms.

That's all I got but if anyone else has any ideas I highly encourage you to put them as a comment.

You don't actually have to skip the night to keep phantoms from attacking you, you just have to get in the bed.  Removing them from multiplayer would not be good because then there would be no way to brew potions of slow falling.

everyone needs to vote for this, Phantoms are outrageous in servers. Sometimes I wonder why they even got added in the first place they are very annoying in a 100 plus survival server and no one, and I mean no one sleeps.

Phantoms should be neutral, only attacking the people who have a high insomnia rating, that way, if your friend is in the nether/end, or just doesn't sleep (ever) you don't get punished for skipping just one night.
