This would make anybody's life easier. A built-in server browser would be great for finding worldwide internet games, just like in the days of Halo, Counter-Strike, etc.

But you couldn't just put any server in there. What if it is not moderated!

It could have a popular, featured, high rated, up and coming servers and then also stuff like survival, minigames or factions etc.

Such a list should be searchable by tags (e.g. Minigames, Survival, or Modded), Player count, Name, or other factors. Being on this server browser should not require a partnership like in Bedrock, and should only require a Server be registered with mojang on a website.

This feature has been implemented in many of Valve's games (source engine). I think it would be a great addition to Minecraft.
Not only does it help players to find servers locally/globally easier, but it also reduces many of the bad practices of server listing websites. It would also help many smaller servers, or public servers to get their name out there without having to pay these listing websites.
Regarding moderation, now that we have chat report, servers which have enforce-secure-profile=false or intentionally disabling chat report should not be listed.
