It is very well known that polar bears are currently regarded as a useless mob, probable being so because the snow biome is very much disliked and rarely entered, or because the polar bear doesn't do or drop anything useful to the player. My suggestion may solve both of these problems.
Here is my suggestion- Polar bears will drop a valuable item and have a new variation as well as a new behavior set for the variation.
But first, polar bears in general will start to attack wolves and foxes, also, the solo polar bears (Ones without a baby) will be drawn to fights (damage being inflicted by another).
The new variation- It will be the Manhunter variation, distinguishable by having red eyes and being slightly larger. It will inflict ten damage (five hearts) when it attacks, it will have 60 health (thirty hearts).
The manhunter polar bear is called such because it will intentionally hunt humanoids, such as villagers, zombies, skeletons, illagers etc. And of course, the player. And this isn't even a myth or fantasy, because, in real life polar bears can and will regularly hunt humans.
It will drop a polar bear pelt when killed, only one, no more or less, as one pelt from a polar bear may be crafted into eight leather, and if there are eight pelts put into a crafting table in a chest plate formation, it will give you a berserker hide. This will give you one extra heart, and also have the same armor points as a leather chestplate and will give you potion effect strength I. It may also drop its head rarely.
I also considered allowing the player to be able to tame or ride the manhunter bear, but dismissed the idea as overpowered, if you consider this to be useful then comment below.
I also considered a charge attack, where a couple types of block would be destroyed as it sprinted toward you.
Giving the player the berserker pelt wouldn't be overpowered as it would be a tradeoff between higher health and damage for significantly lower armor points. This will give the player a reason to go to the frigid tundra and seek out the rare Manhunter Polar Bear.
