Currently there are very few mobs affected by the Bane of Arthropods enchantment. The only one which is encountered frequently is the Spider. While there might not be much use to use it, if there are more mobs affected by it, it justifies its inclusion. A desert tarantula mob would be a safe and simple mob to put into the game. Currently, all of the arthropod mobs are very easily provoked. Instead of this, the desert tarantula is a mostly passive mob which will only harm you in specific scenarios. It has orange eyes instead of the spider's red eyes, orange stripes, and is also black. The mob lives in deserts in small burrows under cobwebs, and will come out at night. Unlike spiders, these mobs are not provoked by darkness. If attacked by a player or another mob, the desert tarantula will use a projectile attack where it shoots a hairball at its target. After this, it will return to being passive. This hairball does very little damage, but will inflict the blindness affect for a short time. If it is killed, it will drop string and a spider eye, along with sand. Similarly to spiders and cave spiders, it can climb any wall, but unlike these, it is slow. It will not suffocate in sand, but will suffocate in other blocks. If a burrow is found during the day, cobwebs can be harvested and string will be laced at the bottom of the burrow. During each day, when the mob returns to its burrow, it will start producing this laced string until it fills the burrow again. If killed, it will only rarely respawn, but it will not despawn. Because it is a spider, skeleton-type mobs can ride it, but because it controls itself, it will rarely work in the skeleton's favor.
