For those who do not know, in the real world, fairy rings are naturally occurring circles of mushrooms. Legend says that standing in one and closing your eyes allows you to make one wish. There is more to the myth with troll's gold and fairies, but for simplicity sake, I think sticking with the primary focus, the wishes, would be an amazing addition to minecraft. Because they are made of mushrooms, I would imagine fairy rings spawning very rarely in forest, dark oak forest, and mycelium biomes. This also gives a great reason to always go explore mycelium biomes since there is currently nothing to do there. I picture the red mushrooms spawning in a 5 by 5 square, except for in the corners, allowing for the fairy ring to look appropriate to it's real world appearance while also fitting the square theme of minecraft.
As for effect, I imagine the player standing inside, and maybe the screen could go black for a couple seconds--to mimic the player closing their eyes--and then the wish has been made! Selecting a specific wish is likely unnecessarily complex, so perhaps something random and special could happen after the wish is made.
While it would be up to the developers to decide what is balanced or necessary for the ring to spawn, I had a few ideas to start:
1-3 Diamonds (Rare)
Totem of Undying(Rare)
Enchanted Apple (Rare)
Treasure Map (Uncommon)
Friendly Iron Golem (Uncommon)
3-8 Bottle o' Enchanting (Common)
Random Enchanted Book (Common)
Fairy rings are an interesting natural occurence with mystical lore, so I have always felt they seemed fitting for Minecraft. Any other ideas for what wish the ring could grant are welcome! Thanks for reading!
