(Feedback Site) Search Improvements

So when I search up say Slime Blocks, it gives me the option of multiple ideas for Slime Blocks but it also shows me comments using the word Slime Blocks. Something like this needs to change. I believe that the searching option should get an upgrade. Here are some ideas that I would recommend:

 

- People can search up the just titles and not the comments that mention the word

- People can search up the just comments and not the titles that mention the word

- People can search up other peoples names and it would bring them to their account

- People can search up just the titles and have it underneath a specific topic(Example: Blocks, Tools, and Items)

- You get the point

 

I hope this could be added in Feedback because I’m sure that it would be way easier to do this instead of having going through the titles and the comments as well.

    This is a bit of a nitpick, but I think another useful option would be to search posts, not just titles. Including comments can bring up way too much, and limiting it to titles would bring too little. And a lot of times the original post includes more descriptive words than the title.

    would also help a lot to sort the results by newest/votes/comments and like you said category, and maybe add a new option "range of votes" basically you get all suggestions with a number of votes within your range for example 10-15 votes, <100 or >2000.

    I think you should be able to filter the search results you get like how you can when you haven't searched

    Agreed that Search functionality needs big improvements. As-is, it's basically impossible to find anything with the search bar, and the search breaks after a few pages because the lower half of the page (Knowledge Base) runs out of results and won't let you go any further to see more results from the upper half of the page (Community) without editing the search page's URL (the "page=" part).

    Features I'd personally like include:

    • The ability to only search through Knowledge Base, Community, or both.
    • The ability to only search through Comments, Titles, Post contents, or a combination of the three.
    • The ability to filter your search results by Category.
    • The ability to sort results by Votes, Comments, Date, and Activity.
    • The ability to filter your search results by Needs Info, Under Review, Announced, Released, etc.
    • A bug fix for the above-mentioned problem where searches break after Knowledge Base runs out of results.

    Hope that was a comprehensive list!
