As this article states that minecraft should have ecosystems! Ecosystems would add more use to the mobs in the game right now, ecosystems are an area where living and nonliving organisms live. But in that area of land they all depend on each other, if one animal is all killed out the animal that depends on it will die out as well, thus making the ecosystem die out. What I'm trying to say is that minecraft mobs shouldn't just depend on the player they should depend on animals for food. I don't know how this system would work but I think the path finding for animals should updated because it would add the ability for the animal to look for food and water as any normal animal would in the real world, here are some ideas for some animals that I've thought of:
The herbivores(the mobs that eat grass etc.) Cows, Horses, and pigs should all have an animation that they are eating just like the sheep would do when they are eating. The herbivores would look for food in the ecosystem they spawn in for an example maybe they spawn in a plains biome, the first they will look for is a food and water source, grass would be the main food source.
The omnivores(mobs that eat both grass etc. and other organisms) Wolf, Birds, Cats. As any person knows if they let there cat outside and continuously do that they get a little bit aggressive toward animals outside, like squirrels, birds and rabbits. I feel that they should to that in minecraft as well. After they have killed the animal they will return to the players home or (will find a cozy tree to lay next to and eat the animal they have killed. Wolves in the wild are very aggressive toward other animals, in the game they show no aggression to other animals like chickens, rabbits, (etc.) I feel that they should a little more aggressive and not dependent on the player to whack at a mob. Birds, birds should be able to explore the world not just sit on there friendly tree they spawned on, they should swoop down on prey and pick them up and eat them on a nearby tree.
Pets(house pets). House pets. Dogs should be able to be a little bit more curious of the outside world considering they are ancestors of the wolves. They should be able to run around and find animals and kill them and return to the owner and give it to the player to cook.
Obviously this took a bit of time to think of and get ideas for all the mobs in the game. But the whole idea is, is that animals shouldn't always rely on the player so they could do their own thing. This is not the whole idea that I have( seems like i know) but I have much more to come when mojang adds for animals into the game, thanks for taking time out of your day to read this, you mean well.
