Compass Rose

In my opinion, maps in Minecraft are kind of hard to read. When I try to use a buried treasure map and the dot appears tiny and in the corner, it is extremely hard to find the direction.

Maps should have a compass rose which corresponds to the direction you see you are facing in the f3 menu.

This could be done by putting a map in the cartography table and adding a compass along with a dye for the color.

 

I don't really know what section to put this in, but this seems like the closest thing,

    In Java edition, all maps are made facing north. U can check it on F3 settings, whenever the little arrow is facing up on the map your character will be facing north. I agree that maps should have a compass rose on them, it would probably be most useful to do this on the edges of the map so that it doesn't interfere with whatever is on the map because some people use maps for pictures in item frames and stuff. Having a little N on the top of the map or even adding E W and S on the right edges of the map would make it easier, especially since you use a compass in the map crafting recipe it should at least tell you your direction.
