Highlighting blocks option

In the bedrock edition of the game, you highlight blocks when you hover your crosshair over them, but why can’t you do that in the java edition of the game? I know there is an option to change it from highlighting to outline selection, I would like that option to be in java edition too.

    This is annoying especially recording videos in bedrock edition
