I like how you call the birds generic.

Yes, they should be similar to tropical fish, so that they add diversity with one simple mob as a background mob.

I think it would be nice if you could tame some variables of these birds like canaries or how people hunt with eagles and falcons. although I don't think they would do anything particularly special except sing every Minecraft moring and would probably help a lot with the very low-quality ambience going on in the game right now

That should be a completely separate update. It should be called the Aerial Update.

When seagulls should eat planted seads, so you have to set up a thing to scare the birds. Dont know what it is called in english.

I think all bird should be tamable. Big birds like eagles, owls, and hawks could sit on your shoulder. If you tap on an animal such as a chicken, rabbit, or fish (something medium small), the eagle/hawk/owl could fly off your shoulder, carry them into the air, and drop them right in front of you, giving them fall damage and killing them in front of you, so you could easily collect the meat/loot.
Medium birds, such as macaws, seagulls, and toucans could collect fruit, seeds, and crops and bring them back to you.
Small birds, such as wrens, sparrows, swallows, and kingfishers could bring you fish and seeds.

Tiny birds, like hummingbirds, chickadees, and weebills could bring you seeds and honeycombs.
All birds that had been tamed by either fish, fruit, or seeds (depending on what they eat) should sit on your shoulder if given the command to.

Thanks if you take my comment into consideration! I love this idea, birds tamable or not.

Terrific suggestion, the overworld really needs more ambience and variety.

I wouldn't want the birds to be any specific species, I love that you just said generic birds. Having birds as just different variants under that name, allows developers to create unique to minecraft mobs that can be further developed later on. I don't want more animal from real-life, I want something that is just Minecraft.

In terms of taming, I think they should be like dolphins, just ambient creatures. Maybe you could feed them with seeds and fly off to bring you another random seed/item. Feed a bird and it comes back with melon seed in its mouth, that'd be a cool dynamic.

    Again, lovely idea.

Minecraft could use some more atmospheric mobs, such as birds, lizards and snakes to make to world feel more alive.

On beach, they have a seagull skin, in black forest and swamps (with black Oak) crow/raven skin (or maybe a new mob who attack). We can maybe have rapaces than we can find in mountains which we can tame for throw it (maybe he can either kill smalls animals like rabbits, generic birds or just bring far items to you)

I like this idea a lot. I think that the should be similar to tropical fish in the that they have different color variants and shapes. I also think they should be mostly for decoration and the atmosphere the player is in. I would love to have a fantasy forest with tiny birds chirping and flying in the sky. I also think there should be leaves that float calmly in the wind and, the sound of leaves shaking in trees during storms.

There should be a variant similar to geese, where they travel in v-shaped groups and fly into water. They should also get aggressive if you get too close to them/hurt them.

Maybe they could eat the seeds you seemed and you would need to afraiy them with a scarecrow

Adding on to what ZillionBeret512 said, I think that they should have a chance to drop feathers when killed, but in general it would be really cool if they had a feather particle effect for when they take damage and when they fly!

Also some will flock in varying numbers and some won't flock at all.

    Plains rivers:
Swans would be found in two and would attack once provoked. They’d drop more feathers than other birds and would rarely be black. They could also be found with cygnets that trail behind.
    Forests:
    Woodpeckers could provide more ambience.

Turkeys could be part of a farming update and could be lured with pumpkin seeds as they’re both autumnal. They’d then be rarer and farm slower than chickens but drop more feathers and better meat. If seasons were added then maybe they’d only be found in autumn.
I’d also like if chickens received a newer model as they look quite weird and maybe they’d have rooster and hen variants and could maybe have colour variants as well.
