Inventory Clean Up/Sorting

I do not know if you were suggested this already but I was wondering if it is possible to add a sorting system for the inventory because I hate when my inventory is a mess. There is a mod currently for this but i would love it to be in Vanilla. Like if you were to press a button and it would sort the inventory. Also I love the new textures so well done.

    I totally agree that this should be a feature in vanilla after playing mod packs with the inventory tweaks and mouse tweaks mods, its really hard to want to go back to vanilla. I love vanilla and it has a place in game play but as far as UI control and user ease of use goes its lagging behind all the mods. something like inventory tweaks seem simple enough to add to the base game even though it would be better if in the base game it didn't virtually drag and drop each item like the mod does. In my opinion the inventory sorting/block dragging should go along side a increase in max block stack sizes especially for items limited to stacks of 16.

    this will be helpful in multiplayer games too... (i dont play it anyway) and will help us to sort items in chest because im always sorting it up when i have full inventory

    I strongly agree and see no reason this should not be implemented.

    I know that auto sorting systems are very popular among Minecrafters, but those systems would still be very viable as all the suggested sorting button would do is sort the current inventory and not split the items into different containers.

    This is simply the quality-of-life improvement that we need and it's long overdue at that.

    As a Minecraft veteran it is unfortunate that quality of life suggestions like this go unnoticed!

    I would add that it would be nice to have a title for chests for when you open them, or make it so you can click through signs to things like chests.

    I agree this would be a nice addition, even if it was disabled by default. Should you want to enable it, I think you should have it under the accessibility settings with the option to set a custom keybind for the sorting of inventories.

    AGREED!  Having played on a modded java client for years, having the inventory tweaks mod was such a blessing.  Sort vertical. Sort Horizontal. I especially likes the auto-fill feature that would refill your current quick-pick spot with another stack of whatever you had in that spot when you placed the last item and it became an empty spot.  Made it really easy to work on large builds.

    I'd also like some way of specifying the preferred hot-bar layout, so my items are always sorted into the proper spots.  I always keep the same tools/items in the same spots.

    I agree, there's no reason why this shouldn't be in the base game. Steps have already been taken towards this, by adding the transfer-all shortcut, stack splitting, shift-clicking and other shortcuts. Not having a basic inventory sorter in the base game means more time fiddling with management and less time spent exploring or building.

    People needs this!!! This would make so many things cleaner and better. Mods alright, but i won't mod my minecraft every update.

    Yes, that what players need.

    It would be awesome if Mojang would added a sort items(with stacking or not) feature to inventory and chest UI.

    Also, it would be awesome if there would be a button to move everything(with stacking) from chest(what's possible, assuming space left) to inventory and vice versa.

    This is a great suggestion. Terraria has had a feature like this for years now, and even has an option to sort your inventory to nearby chests. While the latter might be a stretch for Minecraft, an inventory sorting button would be very appreciated. Individual chests could also use this feature.

    I constantly use the inventory sort button in Terraria for organizing my inventory and chests, it would make life so much easier if I had this in Minecraft, this NEEDS to be in the game and I really don't think it's anything anyone could complain about (though people will find a way)

    Dreaming is not harmful. Can you add a chest with wheels on a string to the game? Or to make the experience endless?
