Clearly you haven't bothered to search the internet for answer, because this is already possible. I'll explain how to do it.

    1) In your launcher, go to Launch Options.

    2) Make sure Advanced Settings is toggled on.

    3) Go to the settings of whichever profile you want to change the RAM for.

    4) Under JVM arguments, you should see a bunch of text that starts with -Xmx2G. Change the 2 to whatever number you want the allocated RAM to be. From what I have read, you should NEVER put this number higher than half of your computer's total RAM. I expect that changing it to 4 (so, 4 GB) would be plenty, so start with that.

    I 100% agree.

It is already possible though, but the issue is:
First, it's hidden in the launcher and you need to know where it is in order to use this feature.
Second, it's an ugly line of code, and you don't know what to change in it, in order to allocate more ram.

Would be nice to have a message in the launcher that tells you something like this: "Your PC seems better than the minimal requisites of Minecraft. Want to allocate more ram to the game?" and it gets you to the RAM slider if you click on it.
