    you can already change a rail corner's direction with a redstone signal

    yea, we need better rails. this is a small part of it.

    As a model railroader I would love to be able to build railroads in minecraft where tracks can intersect, cross over one another etc. I would love to be able to use switch tracks to move minecarts from one set of tracks to another. I envision something like a minecraft lever (or fancier red-stone circuit) next to the switch track to make the track change.

    This is a good idea because you can have three places like a mine village and base and then have a Minecart transport it

    It would make it easier to change direction not using redstone

    Perhaps this could be accomplished with but he rotator block idea. It's also on here. It's a block that upon getting activated by redstone will rotate whatever block its rotating side is connected to by 90 degrees.
