I have an idea where phantoms can hide under beds and when you leave the area of the bed, the phantom will leave the bed, but if you sleep on the bed, the phantom will come out under the bed and attack you. Also the debug stick could have a setting for "phantom". The phantom could chase beds if they see a bed. Which could also be used to make the phantom go to the bed instead of you.
