Here is the thing. I get that Elytra should be hard to get. But the ships are hard to find and the Elytras are harder. If I lost my Elytra (easy to do), then it gets increasingly difficult to find more. And that gets much harder the more players there are. I think either more Elytra chance, or a recipe unlocked when you get your first Elytra. Maybe you need 2 feathers, a shulker shell, and a phantom membrane, to keep it necessary to go to the end for supplies.
