this is not really the developer's problem. you can just report a player's inappropriate behaviour to the server admin and/or owner.

We just gon ignore the fact that this comment is "announced"? What does Mojang plan to do about this? This isn't even in Mojang's domain. Besides, most of the profanity and crude sculptures are done by kids, because they think it's funny. The only person "ruining the fun for kids" is the OP here.

I do see how a player report system would work, however do beware that it is often servers for 18+ players. Most 'family-friendly' servers like Hypixel or Cubecraft have rules against these, but it is unlikely that an account would be terminated due to what they did on a server.

There is a reason why the ESRB places a small notification on all of their content ratings: "Game experience may change during online play." Usually this denotes that there may/may not be older players and/or adults that play this game too, and that text/voice chat/user-created content isn't regulated on a case-by-case basis. Best one can do without installing mods is to exercise discretion when choosing a server/world to play on, as well as who you play with.

There is an in-game option to mute offending players from both text and voice chat, so you don't have to see/hear their rude remarks. There is also an option to "Only Allow Trusted Skins", which limits visible player skins to what's officially-available in-game, both built-in and from the Marketplace, rather than any custom skins they choose to add to the game via .PNG files.

But that's just how minecraft players are not all but there will always be trolls or mean ppl or ppl building things that you don't like, even KIDS themselves do things like that and the DEVS can't change that, only you could by kicking them or putting them in your minecraft prison.

Why this is so stupid. Why would you want to report someone for that. And there's many servers that are safe. Another thing just don't play with inappropriate people.

Mojang cant do anything about this. Its the server’s staff’s responsibility to take care of issues like this. If mojang had to deal with it, the warden wont come out of the ground to straight up murder you for quite a while lol

grow up snowflake. people should be able to play the game however they want. that's how minecraft was made to be. if you are afraid your kids going on the internet, there is a simple fix for that. age rating (PG 13) only applies on single player. Don't expect mojang to do parenting for you.

There’s a solution to that for people that know how to hack in to your worlds, make them visitor but when family join just go in settings and tap on the hand for Visitor but change it to member.

The other way is do /setmaxplayers [Number of players] and done.

I recommend to just stay away from servers if you don’t want to see content that isn’t safe for kids. Minecraft themselves can’t really fix this issue and it’s up to the server admins to do it, and most servers are too big for them to single-handedly ban/kick troublemakers. But, if you really want to play in a safe server, I can only recommend hypixel. It’s a very advanced server that has a custom watchdog bot that can detect hackers and cheaters, and you can easily report any unsafe behavior to the admins with /report. Hope you have more fun with your daughter :).

I wonder how many people have commented comments along the lines of "KYS". some people are just mean like that, and its the internet, so everyone can do so in a sandbox game like Minecraft.

If someone wants to prevent their children from getting in these interactions, they should teach their children how to avoid it themselves, along with measures like monitoring what server or friends they are playing, and a parental system to enact limits on these. i agree with this suggestion, but i feel not all responsibility should be tossed onto game developers.

in short, a parent should have access to some measures to keep their child safe, but there is simply now way to keep players from being rude on the internet (were there are virtually no repercussions for their actions) so that your child will be safe.

The best solution would be to hide the chat and to be vigilant about what servers and realms your kids play on. Maybe there can be a "child account" setting where parents can have it so a passcode needs to be input prior to accepting realm invites or joining servers. This way accounts that are "child accounts" don't have access to those features.

Also, being Minecraft is owned by Microsoft, they could implement the "parental consent" policy that Xbox Live has in place for accounts that have birthdays indicating the account user is under the age of 18 (not an adult).

I understand where you’re coming from and you want to have a healthy and fun experience for your kid when you two play, but it’s just an unfortunate side effect of any sandbox game. There are quite literally hundreds of communities that utilize this open ended mechanic as an integral part of what they build and how their servers are run, and most servers which do not allow inappropriate conduct already banned it independently. You could play on private servers or stick to ones that you have verified to be safe yourself, but Mojang makes a game that caters to many people and limiting what people can do or say isn’t the direction the game should take.

I don't really see this as a problem. I would say find a different server or make your own world. The developers can't do much and so this is a problem for the people who created the server. Sucks, but this isn't really going to help so you should find your own solution

this isnt minecrafts fault by joining servers with people you don't know you should except this to happen. contact the server makers instead if you really have a problem

That sucks to hear but if you don't like that than stick to singleplayer worlds. Most of this probably comes from teenagers who are being silly, but kids are gonna be kids. This should be controlled by the admins, it shouldn't be Mojangs or Microsofts responsibility to look after you it's their responsibility to keep your privacy information safe. Some admins of servers allow this so as I said before, play a single player world or an LAN world or just find child friendly servers.

    well this will just ruin the freedom that servers provided ; mine-craft is an open world and with the most democatic relation between devs and community in the modern gaming meta so that is expected ; and now people are going to just start report bombing other whom they don't like ;

it is the server owners responsibility not Microsoft or Mojang responsibility

please try contacting the server owners for it

If there was also a way to turn on some sort of chat filter for children, that would be nice.

I think it's a valid point but I think it would be nice if you could change an option in the options file that you could turn that feature off in the server settings. It would be nice for Servers for friends only and Servers that allow those messages.
