Well no you can’t really do that’s as people would abuse it and report people for literally joining a server. So if you want it to be “safe “ only play bedrock edition (windows 10 edition bot java ) or just on single player worlds Mojang also offer this amazing thing called realms and realms plus!

OMG YES! My kids have been begging me to let them join a server, and I am scared that they are going to see inappropriate content either with blocks or in the chat. Please figure out a way to do this Minecraft!

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about this. You could try reporting the players if on Bedrock but sadly sooner or later you'll run into one of these players whatever you do. Just teach your daughter to ignore this and know that it's not a good thing to do and you should be able to play ok.

I think that this is something that should be handled by the server, not mojang, I mean what are they going to do, ban people from playing minecraft with their friends just because they build something inappropriate on a public server, just be mindful what servers your kids join. this suggestion is like calling fox because your kids like the simpsons, but you don't want your kids watching family guy over the inappropriate content, it's up to you to moderate the content your children consume.

There can be a type of report system for Minecraft, You go to the players profile then report them.

Well you're playing on an online server. You have to expect it to happen. And on Roblox, they now have a filtering system. They would put hashtags in the replacement of certain words and even on numbers. It's annoying but I see why they'd do it so I don't have much of a problem with it considering it's a game for kids. And there is a way to report people on Minecraft. I can't remember the command for it but you could type "/list" in. At least that's what I think.. Minecraft is indeed a kid-friendly game but you have to make sure to not play online. That's the not kid-friendly side. (I wouldn't get rid of the game if I we're you. It has REALLY changed people's lives in a great way.)

Minecraft is a free world where you can do what you want so people do what they want.

Create your own private server and just play with friends and family and you will not have that problem.

    here's an idea

    PARENTAL CONTROLS

making the rules conform to the most sensitive groups does not make the game better, it only makes the game fun for that one group, in this case CHILDREN.

don't ruin the game for everyone else just because you didn't think enough about the consequences.      (I'm talking to Mojang/Microsoft). You can't make everything child-friendly just because children play it.

parents should be the ones protecting their children, not the people who make games. if the parent doesn't want their kids to see a certain thing, then make it so they can choose what servers they can join so they can only join the ones with the least garbage.

I think this would be cool, but having a way to report players could lead to another kind of abuse, a far more serious kind.

I agree and think that Minecraft should have some system of security check and if the person did something bad and the admin seen it then I think that next time Minecraft could do a feature to keep a close eye on the person who did that.

It seems that on certain servers there is a feature that blocks players who speak rudely or curse other players

This is highly infeasible. Aside from the fact that any censoring technology is probably going to _teach_ your children fun new words by bleeping out such innocent phrases as "basement," the game is in 3D. You'd need something quite computationally intense to search not just blocks in a plane, but on any diagonal or even far into the distance. I could see someone putting blocks tens of hundreds of meters apart, but set up so it spells a bad word facing spawn.

I doubt this can be fixed without completely ruining the experience, and I'll also add that perhaps the problem is not the _game,_ but the community on those server(s).Technology can't, and shouldn't, solve all problems.

Get together with a group of friends and build your own server (it's educational, and not really that hard!) or go buy yourself a Realm (or just run on the LAN if that's all your kids care about). You could make it private to only some well-behaved kids in the local neighborhood and perhaps some interested parents.

Why do people have to do this? I feel like this is something that should've been added since day one in MineCraft. I'm not sure if there is a "Censor Chat" option, but if there isn't then they should add it. I think that this should be applied for wood signs, books, and for naming objects because you know... You can type things into it and it can be publicly visible. They should add a "Report Player" in the pause menu when playing on a Public server. Where you can select the player to report, select the reason why you want to report them (ex. Inappropriate Chat, Harassment/Bullying, Cheating or Hacking, Inappropriate Username, etc.), and when you send the report, it should go to the server admin and they will take action in kicking and/or banning them.

Look you can't control what people do in Minecraft and if you are having these issues most servers will ban people for building "inappropriate things" so really you need to be reporting this to server staff on the servers you play rather than Mojang. Another thing is you can't stop people from building certain things or writing certain things because Minecraft is a game for everyone NOT just for kids as some people think. The whole point of Minecraft is creativity and if you take away "offensive and inappropriate" things from the game it looses that free and creative aspect everyone loves it for. Some people do like to spend hours mining gold in survival to build a giant golden "eggplant" however some like to spend time creating gigantic structures to make their world look good. The point is it's a creative game so you can't limit peoples builds.
