Hello.
I am a realm owner on Bedrock edition (Xbox One). We MAJORLY lack securities for our realm. We need more things to help us protect our worlds and maintain players who join our world. A good way to start would be a code randomizer that allows us to provide a unique code to each person, instead of having a permanent code that can be given out to everyone.
For example (scenario): If one person gives my realm code to '100 random people,' those '100 random people' could potentially join my realm and go out-of-control uncontested... The most I can do in this situation is HOPE that I see their name on the member list and ban them BEFORE they remove themselves from the member list. -> (we are aware of adjusting player permissions, but they don't achieve the necessary preventative security that we need for our realms...)
Under these circumstances, I choose to NEVER give out my realm code... If I do give one person my realm code, then I am risking this devastating scenario. I could potentially lose the stability of my realm that I've invested hundreds of hours, work, and dollars paid. - Aside from risking malign people entering my realm, this also produces a conflict between cross-platform players: They typically need the realm code to join, and I am not willing to give out my code because of this risk. So, these players are disadvantaged, and often excluded.
One possible solution would be: To make the 'realm code' generate a NEW CODE each time, or be 'refreshable,' instead of just having one PERMANENT code... So then, we could send a fresh, single-use realm code to EACH new person! (and eliminate the risk of having a huge breach of people as explained in the scenario above)
So the realm code randomizer could give us a unique code to give to each individual person that has a one-time/one-person use! This could eliminate the risk of a huge breach as explained above!
At this point, the only 'security' we have is to 'download the world...' I wouldn't even consider this a security... We want to play forward, not backwards, as I'm sure everybody else wants too.
I know some plug-ins are available on Java edition that allow players to select and protect areas, but I don't foresee us getting that on Bedrock Edition, so some of these security ideas are a step in the right direction!
The realm code generator is the first idea to protect realms players and make cross-platform accomplishable and without risk. I believe this would be a necessity and a game-fix that will keep our realms secure, more sustainable, and make cross-platform more attractable.
