Sometimes the base idea is simple, but it takes a significant level of explanation to make the context clear. Other times a simple base idea needs to be elaborated on in detail in order to be a reasonable suggestion.
An example of the latter is my "Trees of All the Colors" post. The base idea is incredibly simple, but I wanted to give possibilities for all the proposed colors to make it clear that it was a well thought out idea and to possibly steer the direction it would take if it was considered.
However, it might have worked better if I had been able to outline my idea itself in a base post and then used a "spoiler" type text hiding system to allow people to view my expanded idea if they so wished. It would also make it clearer what is the main part of the idea and what is elaboration or explanation.
It could also be used to format a post that is very long by necessity, like a new dimension post. There are a lot of aspects that need to be considered in order for it to be a proper suggestion, and a "spoiler" type text hiding could allow you to only have the headings visible and put all of the detailed text in expandable sections.
