I've always wondered this too, but on the other hand, Mojang aren't really responsible for the servers, and they have a game to develop....

Apparently they are looking to implement 2-factor authentication, which should cut down on cheating, too.

I think this should be toggleable - there are some servers like 2b2t where hacked clients are allowed and are part of the game, but for other servers, this would be great, other than that, I agree.

Could you change the title so that it has the word ”hack” in it too?
I searched for ”hack” and it didn’t show me this thread and therefore, I made a duplicate.

Everything that is added, can be removed.
With hacked clients, they can just send data from the client: "oh, I'm so legit. More legit than anyone else. What saw me fly? Ur laggin."

Yeah, I've had a problem with people using unfair modifications on my bedrock dedicated server... It would be nice to have a anti-cheat!

Mojang is not responsible for the cheater problem on Java. Minecraft Java Edition is practically a community edition and gives so much power to the player. If servers wanna make a client-side anticheat, they can, but Mojang is not obligated to these independent servers. Now Bedrock Edition is another story and I made a suggestion for that; however, you must understand Minecraft, especially Java edition, is a game where you can do what you want. Players can make cheats and server owners can combat them.

Makes the whole gaming system worthless without central control, no excuses. When my 2 Realm accounts are finished I will be putting Minecraft to rest. Time to move on to a game where hackers and cheaters can be controlled. Even the Glitches like duping that has never been addressed makes the game worthless as far as any server Realm or not worthless.

Client to client for family members only, the game can be fun but that's as far as this game goes. Add in "friends" and there goes any trust let alone the use of exploits that are used. What are the traders in the villages for? Heck just du what you need, why mine or farm, simply set up an auto farm.

Like I said  GAME WORTLESS unless used by family only.

Mojang is not responsible for cheaters/hackers. It should be the servers' responsibility if there are hackers. Also the problem with client-side anticheats is someone could simply mod the game and make it look legit when they are cheating. Every anarchy server and their players would hate this.

Anticheat can't be clientside because hacked clients can just remove it

Yes, this should actually be ”Vanilla server anti-cheat”.

I think There Should Be An Option In Both Minecraft Bedrock And Java that Allows You To Enable Certain Cheat Detection's Like Detect When An Item Is Enchanted Past Normal Or Someone Is Going To Fast And Other Stuff Like That

I think that instead of a client-side anticheat, maybe add something that will send an additional packet to the server stating whether or not the player is using a vanilla client, and let the server handle this by itself. This would be useful for servers like 2b2t where hacking is allowed and encouraged.

Please note that I am aware that hacked client developers would figure out a way to break this, but isn't the exact same thing happening with server-side anticheats?

The anticheat might think people are using speed hacks, but they might just have had a speed potion.

idc if this was added, but should be toggleable for realms and servers.

I was talking to one of my admins about this, and the main problem is legality. To test for the client a player is using in that way, youd end up accessing more than just client info. Ie. Personal information. Mojang might still be working on the game, but microsoft runs the show and definitely wouldnt allow such a module to run through their servers. What they need to do is give us the ability to clear enchant levels and clear actual illegal items. You cant clear players of end_portals, water/lava tiles or any other hacked blocks, even tho they're litterally in the game and that's just absurd if you ask me

One thing I don't understand about this conversation. Is the anticheat about forcing other people to stop cheating, or send a notification about someone cheated and an option to report it to the server owner? I means detection of other player and sending notification is possible right? I believe lots of players are looking forward for this mod since it would be very useful.

On Minecraft Realms they should at least add something to be able to identify and remove illegal items, like sharpness 32767 on a sword and stop third party apps like toolbox from spawning items. I understand others hacks like flying, kill aura, etc. are hard to combat but they should at least remove illegal items and item spawning that's all I'm asking for. Oh and also remove the beehive exploit; that's the worst!!!
