Magma blocks

as the block of magma sound of fire it should generate light

    Do you mean brighter than it currently does?  Because magma blocks give off a light level of 3.

    The magma blocks legitemately give off light, although not how they used to do. In an earlier version of minecraft, magma blocks would copy the light level of other light scources and match up with them. There was no reverse for this except  breaking the magma.
