When I think of the sea, I always think of Starfish and Sea Urchins clustered all over the stripped logs of piers. I'd also think about the barnacles that are simply everywhere!
These would be interesting additions for Minecraft.
Barnacles would spawn on stone that dips into the ocean or on any solid (sandstone, stone, concrete) block placed in the ocean.
Starfish and Sea Urchins would spawn on stripped logs. So you'd see them on the masts of sunken ships and on any stripped logs placed in the water.
What is brilliant about this idea is that they would not be entities, but blocks. They wouldn't have to "die" like an entity. Just break them into an item like any other block. They'd be unique blocks in that they would spawn like entities on blocks. Break one off, then another will appear later.
There would have to be a mechanic so they would NOT spawn on blocks. We wouldn't want underwater builds to be covered in them. Perhaps naturally they spawn on blocks only at a certain heights and close to the shore.
Sea Urchins could be placed in furnaces and eaten.
Starfish could be used with banners to create star patterns.
Barnacles would only be obtainable via Silk Touch. Their use is to bring the 80s to your houses with popcorn ceilings. (This is a joke, don't do this.)
