When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Maybe you could add a new item called "hopper filter" that when you open it has the normal hopper storage gui but it also has a new filter gui beisde it that could be similar to the uncraftable crafting recipes gui that you see in your inventory.

It's a big yes for me ! The current manual hopper way is not only too complicated and time-consuming but also limits creativity when building. I understand some players enjoy a good challenge, the current system crosses a line into frustration.

The problem extends beyond just item filtering. Most redstone mechanics are so bare-bones that combining multiple systems becomes just a pain :

    • Without tutorials, figuring out even basic sorting systems is nearly impossible for the average player.
    • Not everyone has the time or resources to construct enormous machines just to filter a chest's worth of items, let alone create more complex things.
    • Returning to a world after a long time often means struggling to remember the setup of your redstone creations.

A more intuitive, space efficient filtering system would greatly enhance the game and allow for more creative freedom. It would also make it easier to integrate multiple systems without requiring an engineering degree to understand and maintain them.

I believe we're moving in the right direction with the recently added redstone changes and blocks. But, there's still a way to go to find the right balance between usability and wanted complexity.

I hope some form of hopper with a filter option gets added eventually. Even though it's possible to create a filter with regular hoppers it only works for stackable items. I saw a lot of people looking for ways to automate armor sorting but theres no way to do this practically without manual labor (like breaking and replacing armor stands).
