Hawks and eagles

I think there should be big hawks and eagles that people can tame with fish or seeds And if they are tamed the person that tamed them can ride them. I would love that.

    Maybe they could be a little bit larger than a parrot and could sit on your shoulder when you tame them. I do like the idea of a ridable animal that can fly though.

    You can’t ride eagle or Hawk
    But their can attack phantom and mob like wolf

    It would be good for bald eagles as they are low in population and it could bring awareness like how pandas were added for

    You should be able to tame them and then they will fish for you or catch rabbits.

    Not a fan of the riding idea, but I liked them being able to fish for you. They should also (when untamed) steal food and meat from the player’s chests. Another feature could be them eating the smaller animals, like chickens, cats, and foxes.

    I see some potential here. What if like piglins & hoglins were added to coexist, Eagles and Eagle Warriors were added. Like some have suggested Eagles could be tamed, and they would hunt bunnies and fish. Eagle Warriors would then be a new neutral to friendly mob. They could spawn in the mountains in an outpost, but would look like a large tree with a nest on top, with Eagles as their pets. They would attack all hostile mobs like zombies or pillagers, with either swords or for range attacks a spear that could be thrown. Players could then befriend them with a random number of emeralds or something. Then they would follow the player and attack mobs or could be ordered to guard a spot, which they would patrol around. We could have armies and would make castles more lively with actual guards that could follow orders. There weapons could be out of stone mostly with rare iron ones, and their armor out of leather, so you could dye it different colors. What if they were added on the mountain update.

    Should also be able to pick up loot/exp from mobs you kill with a bow.

    Or an alternative way to ridding them they could pick you up when untamed in a sort of hostile way and eventually drop you. But when you tame them you could get it to pick you up and choose when it drops you. This would be a fun way of taking off with Elytras

    an eagle should be added it should be neutral it will try to kill us if we get near its eggs or try to kill him it should be tamable.

    we would require eagle hoodie,arm saver and some meat to tame it it should be found in mountains and should lay eggs

    I like this because Minecraft has lots of mammals, fish and monsters, but doesn't have many birds. And there are no birds that can really fly like phantoms do (parrots and chickens just fly up and down). Also, maybe they could come in different colors: e.g. golden eagle, snowy eagle, black eagle, bald eagle depending on their home biome.

    I don't like the riding idea because flying is supposed to be for Creative, and the only current alternative to that is Elytra with fireworks. Making ridable eagles could make flying too easy, and then Elytra (my personal favorite item) would become totally useless. But overall I like the idea, plus the fishing and stealing features mentioned in the comments.

    I love the idea for more birds, but not so much riding them. Then it defeats the purpose of the elytra.

    I think hawks should be added so that when you tame them you have to wear a leather glove and feed them fish and they will go and bring back rabbit meat/hides/feet occasionally, like cats give random gifts if you sleep with them near.

     

    Also I think that the sizes and looks should vary for both hawks and eagles.

    Being only able to tame Eaglets is not realistic. In Mongolia, Golden Eagles are tamed at about 4 years old, which is exactly the time when they become adults. They can only be tamed at that time, as that’s the time when they are able to hunt as well as fly. The main goal for taming Eagles has always been and cannot be for anything but hunting. Making Eagles tame-able for transportation will be labeled as animal cruelty by Mojang. If we want Eagles, we need to stick to the hunting or gift giving idea so that taming Eagles would have an appropriate and special feature. By the way, I really like the idea of hunting!

    I also agree that allowing Eagles to transport you would break the purpose of the elytra and make flying too easy. Additionally, it wouldn’t make sense!

    I’m totally with Eagles being neutral, and I want them to attack if attacked or if you go near their young or eggs (like polar bears). However, no mob attacks its owner in Minecraft, meaning that Eagles should be able to breed without taming them. I thought of two ways to tame them and breed them separately. First, the Eagle should be fed to enter love mode (We can decide the diet, hunts and/or gifts later). Afterwards, we can use the idea of needing a leather glove to tame them. I think that after the Eagle enters love mode, the player should select the hunting glove in his hotbar, or have it in his offhand slot, and interact with the Eagle. The Eagle should perch on the player’s arm/glove, and if it flies within a certain amount of time and brings back a hunt/gift, it is tamed. If it lands to the ground and moves away/flies but doesn’t bring anything back, it’s not. The second way is the exact same, except that it doesn’t have to enter love mode for the player to interact with it and tame it. Of course, if two Eagles enter love mode, they breed through laying in their perches or nests.

    Having them hunt for you when tamed should also involve interacting using the special hunting glove, though I think an Eagle hoodie would be unnecessary. That's because all tamed mobs can be forced to sit, which is basically for preventing them to move unless attacked, so you can prevent them from hunting without hoodies if you want. We may choose that the glove loses durability as the player hunts, and there should also be a cool down before it can gift the player again. The hunting process should be done simply through a loot table. It means the Eagles just generate items and give them to you, similar to cats. It’d be better than them actually killing mobs, as the mobs they hunt might not be around, or it might not give items as valuable as what cats give, which might break the purpose of the mob. They could additionally kill certain mobs, like rabbits, on sight separate from the “hunting” mechanism that uses the interaction. This is a good compromise, because they can actually kill mobs for you when standing and also provide special hunt related loot upon interaction, just as if it had a successful hunt, regardless of mob availability. Then they should only require open space to fly around, otherwise the "hunt" fails, nothing is brought back. I think the gifts from the “hunting” process and the list of mobs they attack on sight is something Mojang would decide. I heard many great ideas, though.

    I’m sure Eagles should fall into the category of mobs that follow the player when tamed. They should also be made to sit or stand by the player. That’s because they‘d have the kind of bond where they are tempted by the player feeding them and trained for a purpose in return. Same way as wolves are tempted by bones and trained to offer services to expect more, eventually loving the humans themselves for that. In Minecraft, they’re not exactly trained, but they still offer the service of attacking mobs for the player. Just like Eagles would bring gifts and loot certain mobs. After thinking, hoodies are unnecessary for the process of attacking mobs but can be an essential part for the gift giving mechanism to work. Perhaps you must put the hoodie on its eyes before you use your glove on it to make it perch and must take it of its head through your inventory for it to fly and eventually bring you something. If you’re taming it and the attempt fails, it should land to the ground after you remove the hoodie while it’s perching on the glove. Now we (or Mojang) should decide with or against the hoodie, though!

    Sorry, but why??? I don't think you should be encouraged to kill it, you should be encouraged to tame it for the purpose of the hunting process. Many mobs, like villagers, dolphins or tame-able mobs, don't have any special or valuable drops. That's to encourage the player to use/explore this mob's abilities, rather than killing it for loot. If Eagles are gonna be tame-able, they should only drop things like feathers, because if the drops were better than the ability to tame them, everyone would kill them and there would be no point for spending time to tame them. It's a choice; you either want the mob for its special loot, or for what it can provide for you (trades, defense, gifts, etc...)

    Besides, I wouldn't like Eagles to be a mob player's are meant to hunt. First, Mojang would say that this promotes animal cruelty, because Eagles are endangered, and are not an animal we need to hunt to survive. Second, hunting is what they're used for in real life, which requires taming them. Last, their style of "hunting" would also be a quirky new feature in Minecraft; they could give rather valuable loot if they use a loot table. Like when tamed cats give gifts after sleeping with the player, as mentioned above. Examples of loot: Spider eyes, string, rabbit products (meat, hide and feet), fish, and perhaps emeralds, rarely. They could also be able to attack mobs like phantoms, but only if they attack the player first.

    I love the idea of birds of prey in general including owls.  What if though as some people mentioned below you are encouraged to breed them.  Maybe there is a reward for successfully breeding and getting the endangered bird of choice to survive for a certain amount of days.  Maybe you could get something like an eagle claw / feather as a reward which together can be crafted into a magical orb that can offer a new type of potion.  But you need to have several of each to encourage the breeding program.  You need to work for it.  I like the additional idea of using them for hunting, and if the player is attacked they support you, but remaining neutral until they are tamed.  Someone described that quite well.  I don't like the idea of flying, although technically I do, I think that would remove reasons for going to the end.  Or an Eagle feather that is only obtainable from breeding rather than killing could add power to the elytra - meaning you can travel about twice as far before needing a firework.

    I really like the idea of a drop upon breeding. This will really give a reason to breed these mobs, and I think an Eagle Feather is a good idea, regardless of the use we decide on. I also think that a good use for an Eagle Feather would be crafting arrows that are able to shoot longer distances and reach higher altitudes (not stronger ones). Maybe you could even upgrade existing arrows in a fletching table through that feather! Potion making is also a good idea.

    How about a hawk that could spy mobs from 50 blocks away and can alert you to it? Also if you tamed the hawk (by hatching it's egg or giving it fish)  it could go get food like rabbits or chickens or fish and bring it back to you!

    I think the Hawks should not be ridable but you could tame them. They would spawn in the desert or flower biomes and hunt rabbits. They would hover over one before it droped down and ate it. At which time you would go over and tame it with meat and a lead. You would then have a hunting hawk. It would sit on your shoulder. You could send it to attack Phantoms or Catch you rabbits. With the chance the Falcon would eat the rabbit and only give you rabbit hide. Make them a very rare mob.
