    Idea for cave update; items such diamonds, emeralds, gold ect. Should be able to be placed on blocks without the use of an item frame and be displayed as the size of a player head. Also additional precious gems like amethysts and rubies or sapphires could be added as cosmetic features. I believe that these inclusions would bring a beautiful atmosphere to the caves within the game and make for some interesting build ideas like a treasure trove or the inside of a bank vault and many more ideas that these amazing people in the minecraft community bring to life. Also, a quick idea to change gold nuggets into coins and to be able to stack them on blocks up to groups of 16.

    I hope you all see this comment and think that it is as good of an idea as I do.

    Misty caves. Caves with a thick layer of mist at the deepest part of their systems being 3-4 blocks deep where nothing is visible unless you are face to face with a block or mob, or you have aqua affinity on your helmet and then are able to see through the mist. You walk slow through the mist without depth strider and if your head is submerged beneath the mist you begin to drown slowly (twice as slow than underwater) unless you have respiration 3, then you don't drown at all (respiration 1 and 2 slows the drowning further.) The mist would be collectable with glass bottles and be placed in any biome except the nether, it would work the same as water sources but have only a four block flow (like lava in the overworld, but also can create other mist source blocks by having three in a row or a 2×2, just like water.) Finally it can be deleted by using a dry sponge working exactly the same as how the sponge works with water.

    I mean the game was originally called “The Cave Game”. If there is gonna be a cave update then it should be really big one with unique cave generation, possible raised ground level so you need to mine more to get to bedrock, unique dungeons for biome specific caves with mobs. Exploring caves is one of the most important features on Minecraft and really needs an update.

    If they is going to be more ores then let there first be more metals in a game about mining (ex: tungsten, platinum, tin, copper). Gems could be got be geodes and for new gems there should be rare chance (1-5%) to get rarer versions of these gem ([common>rare] ex:sapphire > padparadscha,
    garnet > hestonite, pearl > black pearl, and pyrite > bismuth) p.s. I know the last example isn't related but they both form as squares.

    So here's what I've got in mind for the "Cave Update". Variety of new Ore. Copper, (new Redstone wiring?) Silver, Nickel, Titanium, and Lead just to name a few. These ores can have either only armor, only tools, or both. Some can just add new crafting recipes for certain new items as well. Just like Netherite, some of this new ore can be combined to make a new ingot in the same crafting recipe as a Netherite ingot. So for example you could maybe combine iron and silver to get steel. Now onto the Gem ores. You could have new tools and armor, but they can be components of maybe a new trading currency or maybe a new "Crystallized" Weapon. Basically you do your normal crafting recipe, but if you combine it with let's just say iron or the new ingots, you get a crystallized iron sword. It has a sharpness enchantment without enchanting the sword. crystals can be shards when mined from an Ore and enough of them can be a bigger one like Netherite to add to your sword. Crystals that I can think of are Ruby, Amethyst, Garnet, and Sapphire. New biomes for caves. Maybe some ore only spawn in specific caves. Ice caves (stray), desert caves (husks) and jungle caves come to mind. Maybe some new biome specific mobs that gives us new important items can spawn there. Stalagmites and stalactites can be added to give more of the cave feeling. Also, maybe new generated structures underground. Also a mossy stone block please! Hammers could possibly break crystals and be built in the smithing table

    What about a bat boss? You said bat infested caves, what if these were rare caves that lead to a large cavern with a bat boss? I imagine a giant bat, or maybe a normal bat that was stronger, speed, can summon more bats, strength, etc. The boss could drop a bat tooth or bat wing that could be used to make something special. Maybe it could be an ingredient in making a totem that would do damage or ward off mobs. It would be great to see a new boss like this in the game. What do you think?

    Would be neat to have more variety of cave type biomes that are separated by Y heights from the above overworld biomes.

     

    Crystal Caves with new crystal block or blocks. (Sort of like glass but more opaque but has a slab/stair option)

    Gemstone pockets that contain rare materials such as diamonds.

    Underground mushroom caverns (A lot like Mushroom islands but underground)

    Dirite/Granite/Andersite caves.

    Underground or mountain interior villages

    Jungle caves with vines and different variants of Salamanders & Bats.

    More underground structures with the potential for new loot and or bosses/enemies. (Maybe some new illagers & Corrupted iron Golems)

    There is so many ideas that could be in an update like this.

    I thought that the further down you go in a cave the harsher the conditions could get ie: move lava, more mobs/more powerful entities, but a much higher quantity of valuable ores

    Maybe give the bats a purpose if they're gonna do a cave update as well? Maybe have them drop bat wings to use for potions or simply just leather? Right now the only thing they do is annoy the crap out of me when spelunking.

    i believe it shouldn't only be about the cave contents, but also traversing the underground. we already kind of have crawling since they introduced swimming and suffocation prevention, but opening that up and expanding upon it could be interesting. maybe there is a pants enchantment that allows you to crawl/swim/whatever it is when you sprint-shift. or maybe there could be some form of climbing gear or ropes to help you maneuver. combine this with open ravines, small ore spaces or cracks, and a whole host of other generation ideas and you are more thinking about how to get around obstacles instead of bashing through the walls. i think that would deter people from strip mining and open up a whole host of new mechanics to be used elsewhere in the game. imagine lowering your rope ladder into an icy crevice, dodging frost monsters' attacks, and crawling into a small chink in the wall to escape. maybe it leads you to an ancient dungeon, or a vein of riches, or even a secret volcanic fissure hidden under the alabaster wastes.

    New structures, or even just updating existing ones(mineshafts, dungeons, strongholds) would be great. Maybe, some new neutral mobs you can trade/interact in some way other than killing them for loot with? New dangerous mobs would be awesome as well, since right now the underworld has pretty much the same enemies that spawn on the surface, while a lot of other biomes have some exclusive mobs to them

    This is something I have been wanting for a long time so thanks for posting this idea!

    I definitely think some of these ideas should be added though here what I was thinking:

            More ores possibly like tin or copper (these ores don't have to be made into tools or armor, they could just be used for blocks either decoration or blocks the have uses).
           
            The deeper you mine there might be different biomes with harder mobs to fight with different drops. Like deepest, their might be lava caverns and such. Also more dungeons that are harder to fight through the deeper you go.
            
            A new ore called bluestone (or something like that) that would be similar to redstone but different redstone mechanics.

    I hope people like some of these ideas    :)

    Definitely need to up the design of caves in general, and maybe we can make the world bigger to accommodate for this? 

    Maybe more realistic caves mixed with the original designs, just stuff that makes them feel more lived in and not like I just set a stone block and clicked around quickly. We have some alright ones now, i.e. ravines and some lava pools, but I feel that caves definitely need more life breathed into them so they flow better.

    There should be 3 ores the first one is floutaniam it whuld be found neer the Surface it will flout in the air it whuld be for upgradeing your armor if you jump twice you will flout the next one is celesteel found deep in caves in metors use for armor and tools and the tools have high nock back the armor nock mobs back the last ore is starlite it found is in the same place with celesteel it is very rare it will be used with redstone it can be is used to make a laser.

    Cave update is absolutely necessary, and with Player's expectations so high, I hope Mojang go all out and make this the biggest update yet.

    Here is an idea; Hopefully we'll get cubed chunks in the future (16x16x16 chunks) to allow for infinite Y axis generation, and with it I think layers of harder rock could be added, Stone, which can be mined with wood to diamond, then a crust layer that can only be minded with netherite, then deeper down there's a thin layer of even harder rock that requires special explosives or alike to destroy it, and under it will be even more unique ores and items that are so deep down but once obtained allow you to break any block in the underground (other than bedrock)

    Maybe even at around Y = -900 there could be a "Soft bedrock" layer that would require intense tools and prep to break, while also enduring extremely high radiation levels and having to protect yourself from mobs
