Big Boats idea 1 | Ships

This one is going to be a little long and complicated... so here we go!!! Big boats! We need them, the row boats are good, but are getting old. I have an idea! In the new aquatic update, there are shipwrecks underwater, So what if there was an engine or propeller, (crafted with diamonds restone and a netherstar or enderdragon egg) then we build our ship, and place this at the back of the ship, put a trail of redstone up to the front of the boat, or where to control it, they place the steering wheel (crafted with sticks and redstone) then place a light preasure plate in frount of it, and stand on it, it activates the redstone and moves the ship forward, to control the Direction, it turns to like it would be on a rowboat, but instead of moving very fast, it goes slowly because it is such a large boat. That's my idea! :-)

    I think a sail powered boat would fit better with Minecraft.  It would be an oversimplification, but the boat could just move in whichever direction the sail is pointed and stop when the sail is lifted.

    I agree with ClayGoddessSari. I don’t want to see anything too modern added to this game. If they were to add larger boats, maybe ships that look like the shipwrecks and but with sails.

    It should be sail powered and the more sail blocks there are it should go faster. Also, the block type for the hull should be limited to just wood.

    I also think that you interact with the steering wheel instead of standing on a pressure plate.

    I like this idea, but I would also like if you could add stationary balista for anti air weapons or use them to harpoon anything in the water and also cannons for attacking guys on land or at sea.  Also the engine turns the propeller.

    Player controlled sailing ships could be interesting, but this seems like something that would require several new blocks plus actual in game construction to spawn, such as with the Iron Golem and Wither boss.

    Suggested new blocks would be the Helm/Steering Wheel, Rudder, Mast, and Sail.

    Restricting the hull construction to wood to match the Sunken Ships found in the Overworld, have them faster than the rowboat on forward speed, but slower on turn speed.

    Biggest drawback I can see, is that the construction of such a ship would likely require a 5 wide and 9 long design to be able to hold a cabin/bed and a double chest cargo hold. (Not sure how large to suggest the ships as an entity would be)

    Multiplayer benefit would be that 4 or 5 players could ride together(including the player at the helm) to places that are far from land. Having actual seats for the players, means the risk of multiple hostile mobs being able to board the ship, which could be a risk.

    There should be sail mechanics too, more sails = faster, and the type of blocks you make the hull out of should affect how low the ship rides in the water, like the Davinci's vessels mod.

    Multiplayer with ships sound awesome. I might even unironically call it EPIC.

    Great idea! But maybe make it less expensive if its added so less skilled players can make it and maybe use gunpowder and iron to create cannons which would be optional
