I've purchased content on my account and can't even transfer to my child's account. Basically wasted money because I don't want my 5 year old using my parental profile.

    This is really poorly designed.

Yeah I find it quite annoying that I bought a skin pack because my other account can't download it cause when I made I it I was 13 I'm 19 now  and for some reason my account is age restricted so I

thought because all my account are on the same console that the content will be shared like the xbox 360 did guess not :(

Comon Mojang quit being a Schrooge and let us share content with family members, it isn't that hard to set up.

Is there an update on this? I have three boys and we only had to buy the app once. Why would have to buy the adds/mobs for each child? This does not make sense to me. I hope this gets fixed soon. I will not buy any mods/add ones until this fixed. That is like have a game system (Wii u or something else) then having to buy the actual game 3 times so that each member can play instead of sharing one game like usual.

Standard capability on most other platforms, like everyone else, bought a texture pack using my account for my son, realised that you can create a family then discover nothing is sharable.  Come on guys, get real, this the whole point of having a family setup.

I have two boys. We have family sharing for a lot of things. YouTube Premium, Audible, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple App Store, Nintendo Accounts, Spotify, and multiple licences for Microsoft Office 365.

My 7 year old asked about it again today. In his mind this is an obvious feature for every digital purchase.

Well from what I can tell we are now able to console wide share DLC purchased from the Xbox 360 back when that was what we played on. At least I can use the Natural pack and such my husband purchased....... However I don’t know about skins yet (probably the same) BUT the stuff I purchased via the new Minecraft Store is not console wide. So the PureBD Craft one or whatever it is called that I purchased because I was the only one using the console is not usable by my 6 year old who plays.

Ran into the same problem.  Had texture packs that I bought for Xbox 360 version and one bought for the original xbox one version of minecraft and they were shareable with my kids accounts.  Thought the same rules applied with the newest version of Minecraft on Xbox one and bought new texture packs to find out my kids cannot use them.  I will not purchase the same texture pack two or three times over.  Absolutely ridiculous.  No more purchases until this issue is resolved.

Wish I had read this sooner. I just assumed it would work. Definitely losing out as I will never purchase anything again.

    I couldn't agree more!

I like most people commenting on this thread bought a X Box mine craft bundle and fell into the trap of linking the code with my parent account (the Xbox first run wizard makes it hard not to do this by accident) now my two children can’t access the content which is crazy!!

I have bought this game on 3 different platforms now and I feel that this is pretty low money grabbing tactics! Why you can’t I add skins in a similar way to the pc version of the game I don’t understand. It’s just graphics!!

But with that concession having to buy a texture pack per family member. Come on that is just unacceptable. I won’t be purchasing any DLC until this changes.

Need to clarify, 5 identical Skin Packs were purchased because had to buy same Pack for each child account because that makes "cents."

Supposedly they've been working on allowing sharing of the DLC like the old version since this version launched but I see there has still been no progress.

New twist on this old issue: The Minecraft skin codes included in some LEGO sets behave the same as a purchase. So, if you use the code on the parent account your child can't use the skin included in his/her new LEGO set. That's pretty low Microsoft.

Hi Microsoft. I'm writing just over a year after the OP - which purports to be "in review".

Just bought minecraft (for the third time and on a third platform) and came across this thread while looking for a way to share the already bought and paid for Bedrock content (from our RIP tablet) to my son's brand new microsoft/xbox account (he was only just born when the tablet was set up). Apparently this is not possible.

Suffice it to say that I'm joining the boycott and spending another flipping cent on add-ons until family sharing is enabled.

I just don't play the online version. I have been an line of business software developer for 40 years, and I will tell you this, NOTHING is in possible. This is a contsous dission on the part Microsoft and Mojang. They could have set up APi's to talk to and get this done. But they don't want to. This problem will never be fixed

Very disappointing that parent redeemed contents are not used by child account in same xbox device. Please do something to fix this

Serious oversight! I'm in the same boat. My daughters wanted a Rainbow Skin Pack, with their chore money. So, I bought the pack on my account, because why in the hell would I give my children purchasing rights?! Now I find out that they cant access the content. Which is odd because I bought the Skyrim and Chinese Mythology packs for myself, and because they are installed in the xbox games files, they DO have access to that content.

    This needs to be fixed.

I’ve found myself in the same boat when with the Xbox one S I just purchased for my son. Does anyone know if this is being worked on? I feel that this is a way to steal individuals money. If they don’t fix this could a lawsuit be started against who ever controls this?

Yes! I bought the new toy story mashup, and my kids can’t use the skins unless I buy it multiple times? That’s nuts. Please fix this issue.

I don't really want to start making purchases on my sons account as it is only really a temporary account until he can decide if he even wants a Minecraft/Microsoft account when he is old enough.

My son only has an account so that we can play together when I am on PC and he is on Switch(Realm).

I kinda hoped they were a bit more flexible when it came to parent/child accounts. If a parent buys content, the child should be able to use that content.

I think they should also add a pick button because it is a struggle for small devices to get a block from their invintory thank you for the game it made me who I am today

How much reactions does Microsoft or Mojang needs to give us a response on this request?

We too don’t buy additional packs since we can’t share the DLC.

I'm not sure if anybody already suggested this, but I did this workaround - while logged in Windows 10 with my daughter's Live id, open the Xbox Console Companion app. Log her out from the app. Next, start Minecraft and now I see her Xbox id already logged out from Minecraft as well. Click Sign In and sign in with your (parent's) Live id. Strangely Windows 10 ask for pin verification but it was successful if I use my daughter's pin number although it is showing my e-mail id. Now my daughter can see all the DLC but it needs to be re-downloaded. I try restart Windows 10 and my Live id seems still intact in my daughter's Minecraft session. Hope that helps.

Mojang is owned by Microsoft, and both claim to be all about family sharing and playing together.

I bought a few packs on my own profile believing it would work as it did with Minecraft Xbox One Edition. That all my kids could enjoy the extra content, as I don’t really play Minecraft myself.

There is no way I will keep supporting Mojang until this is fixed.

As everyone else is saying, I ow. The android, Windows 10 and now xbox one version of minecraft. I was about to add the starter pack dlc and minecoins, but have just seen that it account specific, so despite buying the disc which can be used by anyone else in the house the dlc is locked to whichever account activates it. Needless to say not another penny is going mojang/Microsoft direction until this so rectified.
