Maybe just let people Who bought minecraft PE to get minecraft on PC for free ?

First of all, if you are going to build a PC just to play Minecraft. Dont. Please dont waste your time building a PC just to complain that a game that is well worth the money, and is cheap as possibly can be, is "too expensive." Want a cheaper version of Minecraft? Use your phone. Its only 9.99, literally an iPhone 4S which is like 50 bucks on eBay can run Minecraft. If you aren't happy with that, I dont think you should even step foot onto Minecraft grounds. Please have some common sense. I own Minecraft on pretty much all platforms, Im not complaining. Judging by this post, Im guessing the situation you talked about is you.

I don’t know if I am correct but if Minecraft where to turn free it just wouldn’t be fair to all the people that actually bought it. Maybe i am wrong but I think it would be unfair because people had to pay for that with money and then Minecraft later is free? I don’t maybe I’m wrong for saying that but that what I think that’s why I think it shouldn’t be free.

Free games have these 3 things: minor income, ads and in-app purchases. Games that are free have smaller updates. If Minecraft was free, it would lose money. Plus, we don't want to spend $500.99 on a currency nor do we want to add a 126 to our name just so we can use it. Once you get Minecraft, you have *FREE* access to what makes the game better and you don't need a huge gaming setup because Minecraft can run on a $30 laptop. So I conclude, no, no, no and just outright NO.

I don't know. Too many "free" games are quite literally microtransaction hellscapes. True, we have skins and texture packs and mashup packs available in the store, but those are entirely cosmetic (and I've purchased quite a few myself), but if you make this game free, you are guaranteeing that lootboxes will be introduced.

I wouldn’t be against a reduction in cost to $20 for the Java edition since it’s more expensive than almost any bedrock version and doesn’t have cross platform play, so it would help keep new players joining. I understand the higher cost though because the Java edition doesn’t have other ways for the developers to make money (and has the nice perks of an assurance that it will be available past any console cycle and all mods, maps, datapacks, and skins are free).

Of course, making it free would not allow developers to continue updating the game, so I don’t like that idea.

The developers pour countless hours into developing the game. Not only that, but devolving games cost money. Making it free would be horrible

Your logic here is flawed, you say they'll lose money if they don't make it free. Either way, they'll lose money, and Roblox isn't a replacement for Minecraft. They're two separate games.

  • Avatar

No one is buying a $1500 gaming setup just for one game, much less Minecraft or roblox. If you can afford to spend that much on a PC, then you can afford to pay $30 for a game

  • Avatar

I think they shouldn't make it free, but a little bit cheaper. Maybe $10-$15 cause this is a big game and a lot of people are purchasing it. What do they even need all that extra money for?

You are very right, they probably make a lot of money from people buying Minecoins, so they should at least make it free for kids that don't have a credit card and their mom wont buy them Minecraft so they can get the game and for its 10 year anniversary. Minecraft is worth the money for its seemingly never ending possibilities of fun and creativity and its multiplayer is very fun just to sit back and play around with your friends in creative mode. But if they don't make it free then at least you can play a demo.

Tip:In the demo for java edition you have a time limit of 100 min so if you want to keep playing then right at 99 min leave to the menu and hit reset demo world it then hit play demo world it will restart the timer, but you will lose all your progress!

They'll have to introduce some premium stuff and this rarely goes well. So, no.

  • Avatar

They should make it cheaper sure. But not free. They would also lose more money if they made it free.I mean they would not care if they lost there players.

I purchased Minecraft around 2010-2011 and I'm still playing it. I've also purchased games from the call of duty franchise that cost 80$CAD, guess which game I'm still playing. Yup Minecraft, Minecraft has a very reasonable price for the amount of gameplay you can get out of it. for the almost 10 years I've been playing Minecraft I still find things to do/build weather it is from the regular FREE updates that they add to the game or countless mods fans create. the only version of Minecraft I can kind of see being free is the bedrock edition, as that is partially monetized by the MINECOINS, however, mine coins are used largely to purchase community-made content and if Minecraft bedrock became free the creators would get less and that is not fair to them, as some creators have been able to make it their full-time jobs (which is unbelievable to imagine that its possible now btw). Anyway Minecraft costs less than half the price of a new game these days, and in my opinion, it is better than most new games these days.

TL:DR Minecraft is sold at a reasonable price for the content, and free updates, and hours you can get from it.

    1. They need money to continue developing the game.
    2. Not a good argument.
    3. Minecraft should probably be raised in price, seeing the game's quality.
    4. Roblox monetizes everything.

Minecraft.... free? HECK NO. Kid, if Minecraft were free, Minecraft wouldn't be popular. It costs money for a good reason. If you don't like it being too expensive, just go with Pocket Edition on iOS or Android.
